The Plague

by studentteacher83 @ Saturday, 29. Mar, 2008 - 18:14:09

For no particular reason my year elevens were discussing the village of Eyam the other day, they sure as hell weren't doing any work. One of them asserted that this was where the plague started. I put them right but then another chirped in with: 'no, it was started by the great fire of London'.

Oh dear.

Actually in the current climate we might all have to teach different subjects anyway so I suppose some history practice might not hurt!

Do schools offer a study of history?

In that case, I question the competence and expertise of imparting the theory. :(

Isn't that a KS1 thing....the Great Fire of London? I seem to remember teaching that in YR 2 or have I been asleep since then?!

Did she invent the pie chart? Or is that a popular myth?

Not sure, but is it true that Lewsi Carroll invented the Carroll diagram (excuse bad spelling if incorrect of surname) OH and I was once told that Thatcher's family invented Mr Whippy ice cream. Hummmm maybe I have been lied too!
